From Sep 19th to the 26th, just in time for midterm exam season, representatives from the global affairs, economics, and conflict analysis and resolution majors came together to create a “Craziest Schedule Contest,” which invited students to share their wild timetables. For more details on the contest, The Voice interviewed Jaehee Yang, the global affairs student representative and one of the contest's hosts.

1. What is the purpose of the contest?

“The primary purpose of the contest was to get as many students involved in the event as possible and to create a casual experience for many students to share their timetables and see other students' timetables simultaneously, giving them a sense of togetherness and belonging. The event was organized to spark an interest leading to mutual understanding and respect. It's not about the competition, winning, or losing but about embracing diverse experiences and opportunities. It's a straightforward and playful event, but if we can get students to care a little bit about each other through such a simple event, we will achieve our goal.”

2. What are the criteria for deciding the winner?

“The five finalists were each selected by us (MK student representative of GLOA, ECON, CONF), with each of us choosing ten individuals, and then we identified those with overlapping selections. The final winner will be decided through a collective vote.”

3. What is the most important skill to get through the craziest schedules?

“The most significant ability to get through the craziest schedules is managing time. When you’re juggling multiple deadlines, classes, and extracurriculars, being able to prioritize and plan your day strategically is important. It helps reduce stress and keeps you on track to meet your goals without feeling overwhelmed. Plus, mastering this skill early on can really benefit you in the long run, even after university! Thus, time management is one of the most important things for success in college exams and assignments. In the BUS 103 class, students learn about managing their time by keeping time logs as an assignment. Borrowing words of the BUS 103 class, the definition of success in college is not the grade itself but what you earn from getting your grades. Time management is key to success in grades, but it is also what you can earn from grades!”
