Open AI (Artificial Intelligence) released DALL-E, an AI image generator, in January 2021. The following year, they launched ChatGPT which has currently become a major AI chatbot. DALL-E and Chat GPT are designed to generate new content based on the existing data through advanced models. These types of AI are called Generative AI or Gen AI.
The word "AI" began to rise after the 1950s when Deep Learning was being developed. Deep Learning became a fundamental aspect of all AIs. Interest in Generative AI grew after Open AI developed ChatGPT. To compete, various tech companies, like Google and Microsoft, launched their own Generative AI programs.
ChatGPT and Gemini AI, developed by Google, are popular Gen AI tools known for their user-friendly design. Gen AI chatbots like Chat GPT and Gemini AI are capable of performing various tasks that are requested. People can chat, ask questions, create content, and solve problems. Both tools are built on transformer-based generative AI model .
ChatGPT Plus enables access to GPT-4 and DALL-E 3 for $20 per month. Whereas Google One AI Premium offers Gemini Advanced and gives users the ability to use Gemini with Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet 500 times per month.
The major difference is that ChatGPT provides mobile application versions for
both Android and IOS. Gemini AI, however, only supports the Android version.
Comparing the outputs, for the premium version, users of GPT Plus can input the
user’s text, voice, images, or code and it is able to receive text, voice, images,
or code as outputs. In contrast to ChatGPT, Gemini AI offers a more transparent
and responsible AI by connecting directly to the source in Google.
Despite both being AI tools with similar functions, users consider using ChatGPT and Gemini for different reasons. While ChatGPT seems to be better at text-based inputs, Gemini is preferred for multimedia content, making the AI industry highly competitive in the new digital age.
