From October 7th to October 14th 2019 Nobel Prize ceremony was held in Sweden at the Stockholm Concert Hall.. Fourteen winners were selected in the categories of Physiology or Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace, and Economic Sciences. The tradition of awarding the esteemed Nobel prize began on November 27, 1895, according to the will of chemist Alfred Nobel, most notable for his contribution in inventing dynamite, that he will give out his considerable amount of fortune in the form of accolades to those who contribute in the fields of Physiology or Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, and Peace.

This year all the Economic, and Science and Peace prizes focused on promoting ‘world peace.’ The laureates of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences were Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo, and Michael Kremer for their experimental research on alleviating world poverty. According to the statement from The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, this year’s recipients proposed a new approach to obtaining answers in fighting global poverty. “In brief, it involves dividing this issue into smaller, more manageable, questions. They have shown that these smaller, more precise, questions are often best answered via carefully designed experiments among the people who are most affected.” Duflo, a 46-year-old Economic professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is the youngest individual and the second woman to ever win the Economi Sciences prize.

The Prime Minister of Ethiopia was this year's recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in the name of promoting peace, solidarity, and social justice, especially with his initiative to resolve the border conflict with Eritrea. Following his inauguration as prime minister in April 2018, he began working closely with Isaias Afwerki, President of Eritrea, and was successful setting up the principles of a peace agreement to end the protracted ‘deadlocked’ situation between the two countries.
